Africa and Abandoned theme parks

1. On your blog post your reactions to what you read and what you saw. How about 3-4 sentences.

My reaction was very calming and soothing especially since there in black and white. The rules of simplicity and lines were mainly used in these photos and it mad them look very appealing. I like the concept and the shading of the photos.

3. Describe it and tell me why it's your favorite.

I like the lighting from the clouds shining down. I also like the giraffes in the background because they add detail to the photo.

4. What rules of photography are evident in the photos you selected, be sure to explain the rule to me?

One rule of photography used in here is lines. Lines is when there are lines leading your eye to something or the use of lines can make the photo look more neat and clean which is what he used for the grass and giraffes.

5. What kind of camera and lens does he use and why is this important?

He uses a Pentax 67 and prefers to shoot up close to add more depth and feeling to his photos.

6. What is his reason for taking these photos?

He wants people to realize how bad they are hurting the animals and their environment.

7. What is his hope by taking these type of photos?

Nick Brandt hopes to get people to understand their actions and stop hurting the animals and the environment.

8. Find something he has to say about Africa, and post the quote on your blog.

"I want to capture the spirit of that particular creature. The frustrating thing is that with animals I have to wait. But I never lose my patience – I always consider it something of a minor miracle (and relief) when I get that moment."

Abandoned theme parks

1. Tell me which amusement park featured in the two articles that you would like to visit and take your camera along and what about that park made you want to go there. Write at least a paragraph.

Land of Oz, Beech Mountain, North Carolina, USA. I would want to go there because s a child I always loved wizard of oz. I think being able to go there now and see the movie come to life and now abandoned. There could be lots of cool angels and side by said caparisons I could do with the pictures I take to the actual movie.

2. Post one photo from that park. You may use the photos from the link, or you can google an entirely new photo. I would prefer to see a photo of the park in disrepair and not a photo of it when it was still operating.

3. Think of at least FIVE other unusual places you think would be of interest to photographers. List them.
abandoned buildings , churches, playgrounds, ghost towns, and schools

4. Use google or another search engine to research ONE of your five places and see if anyone has already started documenting that place. If you find that someone has already started - post at least one photo of their work.

5. Write a paragraph about why you think that it would be fun to document that location. Tell me what interests you about that place and what kind of photos you could expect to take there.
I think it would be fun because people know playgrounds as a happy place, full of laughter and fun. But it would be interesting and eery to see the other side and see a playground abandoned and over grown. I woke want to take photos of side by side comparison of a see playground and same panel of the playground full of children and then abandoned.

6. Tell me what it would take for you to go and take photos at your location. What would you need as far as equipment goes, travel plans, expenses you might encounter and what laws you would have to take into consideration to take photos at your spot.

I would need to find a playground and take two photos of it. One during the day full of kids and play and then on at night with it empty in the exact same spot. I would need a tripod, and i would need the weather to be bright during the day and then foggy and humid at night.
