a. Why did you pick this photo?
b. What rules of photography do you see in the photo?
c. Who took the photo?
I picked this photo because she looked very happy and it was a unique photo. The rules of photographer I see in this photo is balance and cropping. It doesn't say who took the photo.
The article was about talking about new years. More importantly news resolutions and how much it means to the photographer.

I choose this photo of the girl because she has very blue eyes. I see its a portrait and that perspective is used. I don't know who it was shot by.

Harper's Bazaar, September, Sarah Jessica Parker
I really like this photo a lot but she looks very happy. The lighting is very good and its well lit. I like her outfit and how to colors are all the same. One thing I would fix is her body position, her neck alignment with her body looks a bit awkward. I also don't like how she's slouched over. It looks like there was some airbrushing done to her arm and maybe her face, though I do like how natural her laugh looks. The natural makeup was a nice touch, but Im not sure how the cover relates to the top article in the magazine which is fall.
1. Image Based
2. Illustration Based
3. Type Based
4. Concept Based
Images need to be exposed right and eye-catching in order to get peoples attention. They should be intreating to look at. Illustrations should be clean and unique, this also factors in to the viewers first impression. Type babes is important because you need to know who your applying to. An example is putting beauty magazines in a beauty parlor. Concept based is important because people don't want to hear what fun summer activities to do in the middle if winter. You need your articles to be relevant and important.

FASHION
First video:
The first video they changed her face proportions and her overall body proportions. They lightened her skin and smoothed out her freckles.
Second video:
They basically changed everything cause she was actually a piece of a pizza.
Third video:
sid video was restricted
4. Is it ethically acceptable to change a person's appearance like these in a photo? Why or why not?
No, why would you set expectations the models in the photo can't even reach.
5. Are there circumstances in which it would be more ethically wrong to do this type of manipulation?
They are changing the photos to impossible realities.
6. What types of changes are OK, and what aren't?
I think cropping, surprise acne, and lighting is fine to alter.
7. Explain what you think the differences are between fashion photography and photojournalism.
Fashion is selling clothing and altering bodies to try to sell better is wrong.
8. What relationship does each type of photography have to reality, and how does this affect the ethical practice of each?
everyone is raised and grew up looking at these people wanting to be like them but in reality no one looks like that. It can make girls get eating disorders and depression.
9. Why do you think I am showing you these three videos?
To make us more aware in the photography world and to make sure we don't alter our photos.
10. Why are none of these videos about guys???
They make more of an impact about girls because most fashion viewers and people who pay attention to models are girls. Guys can see a model and think she's hot or attractive, but girls can compare themselves and thats where the problem is.

A. What is the most powerful image from the pictures printed in the Denver Post over the three weeks they published images from the year of coverage? Why?
I think this is the most powerful and emotional photo because his face shows a lot of emotion and the sign in the background adds to it. Overall you can see he very scarred and uncomfortable bu he still power throughs.

The captions add more to the photos because it gives you an insight to what just happened and whats about to happen that help you understand the pictures more.

funny captions
mural project
1. Think of at least three ideas you have about what your team could take photos of, that are in the same theme? Be creative, but be realistic. You will be shooting OFF campus, and every member of your team will need to be able to take similar photos or whatever you decide to do as a group.
1. People laughing
2. You will be using the school cameras or your own similar camera. You will need to shoot in Manual. What are three things you will have to think about when you are out shooting?
-blankwall
-close up on their face
-bowie student
3. Although we have always done this assignment as a paper/printed product. I am interested in being able to show off these images/creations/murals online. What are some ideas you have on how to get these pieces onto the internet?List three ideas and how you would suggest to your team this second product gets created.
You could put them on the Bowie website, hang them in the school or put them in the school newspaper.
Our next assignments will be to get into groups and start planning this project. I will be assigning the groups. Your group will meet to talk about theme and plan the project - each group will have its own and we will print them here in this room. We will use butcher paper to mount the photos on. You will take all the photos and I will help print them here in class. Then we will hang the murals around campus. Below are a couple of examples from last year.
